Social Outreach Committee
Volunteers coordinate opportunities for assisting the disadvantaged in our community, for example: Outpace Poverty Walk, Thanksgiving Baskets, Giving Tree, etc.
Volunteers help with project serving residents in the surrounding community. Parishioners also donate food as they wish throughout the year. Friends of the Pantry take on special projects such as home deliveries. See the Food Pantry page for additional information.
The Green Team embraces the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ call for environmental justice and hopes to inspire a deeper respect for God’s creation and engage our parishioners and others interested in activities that deal with environmental problems and caring for our God’s creation. More information on the Green Team’s page.
Welcoming Committee
Parishioners meet to plan welcoming events for new parishioners. These events occur throughout the year. Members are also available for home visits.
Funeral Luncheons
Volunteers to serve and/or bring food.
Need a Ride to Church?
Volunteers help parishioners or those seeking transportation to our church with those accommodations.
Praying for Special Needs at Home
Parishioners often ask us to pray for them in times of need. A group of parishioners helps to offer the additional prayers needed for these individuals.
Pastoral Care
We are always looking for volunteers to assist at Bishop Spencer, helping administer communion at St. Luke’s, and visiting homes of parishioners.
Education & Youth
Adult Education and Faith Formation
Various educational opportunities are offered throughout the year. Please see the Faith Formation portion of the website for the most recent opportunities and events. If you would like to be part of the committee that helps plan, review, and discuss ongoing adult education opportunities, please contact us.
Parish School of Religion
This includes Family Faith, Pre-School, and Sacramental Preparation. This program is for all children of the parish, especially those in public schools. Children in first through sixth grades are accompanied by their parents. Both groups meet the third Sunday of the month, September through May.
RCIA Sponsor
An RCIA sponsor accompanies a person who is preparing to become a Catholic. They represent the parish community and introduce the prospective Catholic to the community. This group meets weekly from September through May. More information on our RCIA page.
This includes programs for our children (baptism, eucharist, reconciliation) but also for our teens and adults (marriage, confirmation). We are always looking for enthusiastic individuals interested in serving as a resource in these areas.
Parish & Community Life
Quilters | Mary Stanton
Those of any age interested in quilting meet regularly to make their own projects or assist others in completing theirs.
This is a Catholic men’s group that meets to focus on spiritual growth, service work and social events within the parish. More information on the Holy Name Society page.

Special Events
Guardian Angels is known for being active, and that requires lots of volunteers. Anyone interested in one or more of these activities are encouraged to contact us: June Festival, Attic to Basement Sale, Lenten Fish Fry, Taco Dinner, Spaghetti Dinner, Children’s Christmas Party, Children’s Easter Party, St. Joseph's Table, and Bargain & Breakfast Sale are a few special events.
School Volunteer/School Board Member
This includes opportunities to assist at Our Lady of Hope grade school.
Spanish Speaker
We serve many hispanic parishioners and community members, including those families who seek our assistance. If you are interested in serving as a translator or helping us issue bilingual communications, let us know.
This group of women of all ages supports the parish through prayer, reflection and social activities to engage the community. Watch for our Trivia Night and BINGO!
Young Adult Faith Community
This group of adults, those in their 20s and 30s, connect for fellowship and service. They also connect with the diocese’s City on a Hill Young Adult Ministry. See the YAFC page for more information.
